Ofsted

We were delighted that our most recent Ofsted inspection judged Welburn to be a good school!

Osted update January - 2020

It’s been a year since our OFSTED and a lot has happened since.

We were delighted with the feedback and also recognized the areas that were suggested for improvement.

We have all worked extremely hard to develop these areas- and are beginning to see the results.

For our Early Years Pupils we have further refined our next steps planning so to ensure these are more precise and that all members of our team are aware of these.

In Summer 2019 81.8% of our Reception pupils were judged as being at a good level of development. This is significantly above both the national and North Yorkshire level.

We have worked with an English Hub to access more training on the planning and delivery of our phonics programme. We tweaked our planning to better fit the needs of our pupils. All teaching staff have received additional training on teaching phonics, we have bought a lot of new reading books which support our pupils reading at home at their level of phonic knowledge.

In Summer  2019  93% of Year 1 s were working at the required level in the Phonics Assessment. All our Year 2 pupils who took the assessment also achieved the standard.

Our focus has now shifted to our handwriting and co-ordination policies which we are currently overhauling. Watch this space!
